Do They Know It's Christmas Time...

This Christmas will be our first in our new Singaporean home. Therefore I wanted to spend some time (not too much!) making some festive decorations with my kids that we can all enjoy and make unique to our new abode. I thought I would share with you the easy steps I took to make these festive features which  you can tweak to make you own to fit well in your home too…

Christmas Wreath

Tips for creating you own wreath;

•I was keen to make something clean, minimal and traditional for my wreath so whilst I was at Spotlight I found some large brass rings that were meant for making dream catchers

•My Christmas tree had just been delivered so I had ample fresh pine branches to play with

•I used brass wire to fasten all the pine leaves onto the brass ring making it nice and secure, then wove the fresh holly into the center and then used a thick quality grosgrain ribbon to finish off the wreath.

•Remember to buy extra ribbon and a hook for the door, place the hook on the other side so that it looks nice and clean from the front

Advent Calendar

Tips for creating you own advent calendar;

•When you can’t find the right Advent Calendar that matches your home interiors, best thing to do is to create your own

•I purchased a black bamboo ladder from Scene Shang, I thought with the weight of all the Advent Calendar stuffing (toys and sweets) would eventually fall off the wall.

•I swiftly took my self to Spotlight at Plaza Singapura and found walls of crafting ribbons and chalkboard tags and star pegs to peg the bags closed.

•I found a few star paper bags from Cuckoo home in Tanglin mall that could fit the goodies inside

•I tried not to make it so tricky with glue or tape, folded the edges of the bag then Added the numbers to each tag and used the pegs to seal.

•I had some left over holly, pine and tree lights to give it a more tradition Christmas feel.

I hope these tips have been helpful for those of you feeling crafty this Christmas.
